The Feast of St. Brigid
29th Jan 2021
As we approach the feast of St. Brigid on Monday 1st February we wish all our school community good health and peace. A lovely tradition is to place an old piece of material or clothing outside on the eve of St. Brigid’s feast day. It is said in Irish folklore that St. Brigid will bless it as she passes. The cloth, or The Bratach Bhride, will bring good blessings and ease from sore throats and headaches. We have a lovely tradition in Ireland of creating St. Brigid’s crosses from rushes. This year it might be especially important to continue with these traditions.
