Single Use Plastics Project
Our Primary 7 class has embarked on a competition led by the Education Authority in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful (Eco Schools). The project was designed to encourage pupils to investigate the use of single use plastics in school. The Primary 7 team worked really hard on this project and submitted their findings to EA on Wednesday 17th April. As part of the remit of the competition the children led questionnaires with each class, interviews with Mrs Boyle, Mrs Garvey, Mrs Rowland and Mrs Keating and an audit of lunch boxes and bins. They brainstormed innovative ways of reducing and reusing our single use plastics and came up with great ideas which link really well with our Eco School culture. The class invited Finnegan's Nursery to help them with the project and spent a lovely morning learning how to reuse plastics for the garden. After Easter they will host an assembly to tell the school about the project and to share their ideas. Please feel free to read our competition document. Well done P7!
