St Brigid's Primary School Glassdrummond

October in Primary 7

25th Oct 2018

Primary 7 have had another busy month! We have been focusing on non number components of Mathematics specifically Time and Handling Data. The children have been exploring the impact of Daylight Saving and have been finding out about different Time Zones across the world 🕐🕒. They looked at an interesting way of managing information through line graphs and were able to see ways in which different professions use graphs/charts to help them make decisions 📈. Our Literacy genre was poetry (Mrs Donnelly's favourite!!!!) The children have been analysing poetry from famous poets like Ogden Nash, as well as creating some of their own. The poems had an 'eco' twist and highlighted how we are mistreating our world 🌍. We certainly have creative children in P7. We have been using The Literacy Shed to view media clips to help with 'slow writing' techniques...some REALLY impressive paired writing was created with a spooky Halloween theme 🎃 We finished our Victorians topic and look forward to moving on to a new topic after Halloween...this time with a 'geographical' theme rather than 'historical'. We entered the Credit Union competition entitled 'Force of Nature', there were some very Artistic pieces of work. Fingers crossed we might have a winner in P7 🎨. Our swimming sessions have unfortunately come to an end 🏊😢 but we finished on a 'high' by being personally commended for impeccable behaviour. Well done P7. You are fantastic ambassadors for our school.
