Our children in P4-P7 have completed their Accelerated Reader 'Star Test'. This gives them a ZPD (zone of proximate development) which equates to book levels. The children use their Book Level (BL) to choose books to read which match their decoding ability and comprehension capacity. When they have completed the book they can take a related computerised 'quiz' in school. This quiz gives them points and also ascertains how many words they have read. The more quizzes equates to more points and more books equates to more words!!! Get reading!!!!! We have had lots of millionaire readers in school and last year we even had a double millionaire in Primary 6!!!! We have AR books in school which your child has access to, but feel free to use books at home which may be AR books or ask at our local library and they will direct you to appropriate books.
